Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.


Education Officer

Role Specific Information

As a humanitarian organisation working in a challenging operational environment it is of great importance to work in compliance with governmental rules and regulations, donor requirements as well as NRC own values rules and regulations in order for NRC to maintain its position as a trustworthy partner for all external stakeholders. The role of the Education Officer is about supporting the Education Programe and the Project Manager in making sure that proper coordination with Logistic, Finance, and Human Resources is in place and as well cooperation with other NRC Core Competence and Sectors is viable and smooth. We’re looking for a dynamic person, good communicator with good written/spoken English and Arabic skills and organisational abilities: drafting minute of meeting, organizing events and liaise with local authorities when requested by the Project Manager.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Conduct HR, Finance, archiving and logistic processes;
  • Prepare internal activities’ reports as requested and collect information from other staff;
  • Follow up on assigned tasks relating to Education procurements;
  • Use all site Admin and Filing SoPs and provide guidance and support to Education Technical Assistance and Community Staff;
  • Support in drafting new SoPs an guidance related to HR, Finance and logistic processes;
  • Liaise with NRC Education Staff in Camps and NRC other sectors in camps;
  • Support NRC Education Staff in camps in managing the Incentive Based Volunteers documentation (contracts and payments);
  • Be Amman focal point for HR, Finance and logistic processes supporting the staff in Camps
  • Implement monthly monitoring activities in the field as delegated by the Project Manager;

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a college graduate working in a relevant field, with three years of experience in a similar field.Excellent attention to details & time management skills are required. Our ideal candidate will be detail oriented, possess advanced knowledge of MS Office tools, Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal are mandatory.

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels, to have the ability to analyse data and trends for informed decisions and Capacity building skills.

Additional Information:

Contract period: 12 months

Salary/benefits: 1024JOD (subject to social security and Income tax)

Duty station: Amman
